Brace Yourself

Lets face it, we're not professional writers. In fact, I will do my best to keep the spelling errors to a minimum. The following are random thoughts as we reflect on life and our beautiful family. Hope family and friends enjoy!

The Main Event

Well, where do I start? Welcome to our family blog! I hope people end up following this cause we got A LOT going on. I will do my best to summarize our lives...yeah right! Anyway...well the news...BABY! Yup, Madeline Therese Meyer was born on Sunday March 28, 2010 at 3:01am. Yup..it was exactly that minute, cause I took a picture of the clock. We are SO BLESSED and thank God for a happy and healthy baby girl! She's a screamer!!!
I'll summarize the experience as follows:

Original due date 4.4.10
3.27.10
- 9am. Date breakfast. Melissa and I went to Beans n' Cream in Sun Prairie for coffee and a light breakfast. We each had ham, egg and cheese burritos with guacamole and other ingredients, among them, CHIPOTLE sauce! (Could this have been our catalyst????)
- 1130am. Naptime. Yup..we both took a nap...whatever..it was a nice Saturday for a nap.
- 1pm. Melissa says...ahhh..I think I'm going to call the nurse line, cause I think my water broke. The nurses let the labor and delivery wing know at the hospital and said we should head on over. Mind you...no contractions at this time.

- Side note: I have three words of advice for expecting fathers.......don't say "The want us to go now??? My favorite pair of jeans are in the wash!" or "I just woke up from a nap and my hair looks terrible." or better yet when observing your wife packing a backpack say "You should really consider packing rolling luggage instead of a backpack. You don't want the hassle of having a heavy bag on your back when you are having contractions walking to the labor and delivery wing." Think about it...

- 230pm to 730pm. The waiting game. We hung out in the birthing suite playing cribbage in anticipation.

- 9pm. Butler advances to the Final Four.

- 945pm. Contractions really start moving.

- 3:01am. Madeline Therese Meyer is born. Mom did GREAT! She was a rock star. Madeline tipped the scales at 6lbs 6oz and was 19 inches long. She was a screamer, and definitely let us know she arrived. Melissa and I are so thankful for the greatest blessing we could ever receive! God has definitely blessed all three of us!
