Melissa: "Is that a bug on the floor under Maddie's chair?"
Jon: "It's poop."
And with that....Oh yeah...we're back.......
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone! It was truly a blessing this year to celebrate the joys and blessings of Christmas this year with Madeline! 2010 was a great year for the Meyer family! We thank God each and every day for our continued blessings, family and friends!
Sometimes I need to learn to blog more often, cause if you would have asked me to recount the last month and all the changes and events...my head starts swimming...lets just say we were busy! Train of thought update...it is now 1/15/11 at 7:52 in the morning...anxiously anticipating kickoff of the Packers - Falcons game! Go Pack! Melissa, Maddie and I are decked out in true sports fashion.
And here we go.....
It's Done!!!
YEAH....the wood floor is installed....we officially finished the work in late November. It looks incredible. Special thanks to Herbert for his help. Couldn't have done it without him. Also thanks to Marilyn and Melissa for taking care of the ever adventurous Madster while construction was going on. It took us six days of full work over three separate weekends, but trim and floor is down. And it was worth it!
While I am on projects...while it happened to be heading into the holidays...of course there is something additional to fix...Jon was very busy, but likes getting his hands "wet" in home improvement projects...I say wet because Jon busted a sink drain while simultaneously doing work on our replacement of our water softener, but this time he remembered that when the drain is undone..you can't run water to wash your hands..cause it goes anywhere, kind of like what happened when the tub drain was replaced....hmmmm......
But...Jon successfully completed his workbench this winter....and it looks sturdy and great. Melissa is excited because he has a place to keep his tools so they aren't scattered across the floor and Jon is excited because of the accomplishment.......it is kind of ironic that Jon completed the workbench AFTER major construction was finished....he isn't always on top of his timing.....
Thanksgiving full of Thankfulness
Thanksgiving this year was very special as we have so much to be thankful for. Our family is blessed with love, health and such happiness. Melissa and Maddie were excited to attend the traditional Thanksgiving dinner at Great Oma and Opa's house (Jon was working.) The family got to spend quality time together and Maddie was able to show off her new skills...crawling..etc to extended family members. The following Friday Mommy again outdid herself and did all the Christmas decorating! We were festive this year. Madeline liked the garland on the mantle the best!
On Saturday we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa Meyer's house in New Berlin, there we had a great time with extended family as well. And Maddie had a good time also. Holidays are getting more fun each year with a little one!
Christmas Breakfast & AMFAM Santa
On the weekend of 12/4 we decided to attend the American Family Christmas breakfast. This was exciting because it is a work function that is very children oriented where they have a breakfast, children activities and of course the "authentic" Santa Clause on site. We decided to take Madeline to start the experiences of her first Christmas. We dressed her in her dirndl that used to be Melissa's and got all bundled up on a snowy morning to head out. Maddie did great. She is kind of shy when she was in our arms, but there were no tears and she was looking around at everything. We took pictures with Santa clause and took pictures. It was a ton of fun. We think the family will make this a yearly experience.
We Love Mommy!!!!
Madeline and I are extremely blessed to have the greatest mother and wife in our lives. She truly cares so much about us and we wanted to give her a special birthday! It was pretty low key, but was the family spending great quality time together. We started out at a special breakfast place Beans 'n Cream in Sun Prairie. This was the last time we went out to breakfast together and it was the morning before Madeline was born. We both ordered the same meal cause it was fun and really good. Chipotle burritos:) This time was really special because we had Madeline with us. Maddie had her bottle with her and was really content sitting in the restaurant by the fire. Of course though we had to look and touch everything! It was pretty special! After the breakfast we spent the day as a family running errands and playing with Madeline. Then at night Jon cooked Melissa's favorite meal. Shrimp enchiladas! The highlight was singing happy birthday to Mommy while Madeline watched her blow out the candles. Happy Birthday Melissa. We love you!
We've Graduated Since We've Last Checked In......
Last everyone has heard, Maddie has mastered the "flop." Wow, have things changed, we are now in full baby proof mode. Maddie shortly after mastering flopping, started to crawl, which we deemed her officially "mobile" and now has started to speed crawl so we have deemed her "officially miss into-everything." What an exciting time, for both her and us. She is so excited to explore her new surroundings!
About two weeks after our new conquistador became a crawler, lo and behold, she became a stander, pulling and holding herself up on the furniture, walls, toy box and her favorite, the baby gate. She gets up there all right, and then smiles and laughs because...well...she is SO proud of herself! How does she get down...she plops on her butt...funny:)
To be continued...........
