Madelineisms

I thought it would be fun to give my loyal readers a glimpse into life in the Meyer household....enjoy.

- Madeline throws blocks underneath the furniture just so she can get on her tummy and "look" for them. Usually Mama and Papa have to retrieve them.
- Madeline LOVES her car we got her for Christmas. She walks behind it downstairs, and then hits a wall, can't turn around and we BETTER be there to turn her around or she looks at us funny.
- We LOVE to give kisses when asked. It is completely open mouthed and more like a lick..but it is adorable, and the record is five in a minute period.
- We "understand" the word NO, but choose to ignore it...well, let me rephrase that...we "test" it. We have a plant stand that is strictly off limits, she crawls up to it, puts her hand on it...we say "no" very firmly..and she smiles at us......and continues to grip it...if there was a test on "testing no" she would be in the 90th percentile.
- It is no fun after bath to be clothed, in fact we have set aside a 30-40 minute "naked time"...the first 5 minutes, she is naked...and we have to catch her cause we set her down, dry her off and she is gone.....in the hallway, our room, living room..the whole nine yards....we finally manage to get a diaper on with a tube of butt paste distraction, and then she is "gone" again...we just sit back and watch..it is one of the most fun times of the day:)
- Maddie "sharpens her fangs" on the crib...toothmarks to prove it.
- Maddie "fakes" sleeping...this is hilarious...Mama and Papa tiptoe in to not wake her up..we get close when she is laying down, and she pops her head up and gives us a big grin...who knows how long she is awake.
- Maddie "talks" to her monkey and lamb before she goes to bed...its pretty cute.
- The earthquake shake is a popular move when we don't want to nap. The sound of crib rattling on crib usually gets us running, but then we are greeted with Maddie standing up and laughing, almost as if to say..."oh...why are you here" to which we respond...."we're surprised the whole neighborhood isn't here.
- Maddie likes to talk and say "ba, ba, ba" and "mama"...and I think (Jon) that she realizes mama since she smiles and crawls to her after saying it...it is adorable...we are pushing papa now......
- Jon nicknamed her "nuke" because the week he was home with her we had major meltdowns before nap time.
- We love PRUNES! and they work! (one day she is going to hate me for writing that:)
- Apparently Mama and Papa have a nasty habit of leaving doors open in the house...cause Madeline likes to close them...only after inspection of the doorstop though...and how it "twangs" back and forth.
- Whenever we are in Mom & Dad's bathroom, when asked where the "duck" is we look at the picture on the wall and smile.

What a blessing to have her...she is so fun..and we are sure there are much more Madelineisms to be discovered!
