It was truly a safe haven and a diamond in the rough. There we were, running errands this fine Saturday morning. We heard a small voice from the backseat say..."I have to go potty". The dilemma begins; parents caught in a paradoxical world. Encouragement in the past to hear those words with meaning, could they trump the awkward situation that was presented??? To go against all we have been teaching?? Ignore based on convenience & location. Problems have presented themselves, but we weren't sure we were ready to expose Maddie to one of life's harsher realities; going potty at a gas station...
So we sat and discussed while the pump pushed gas into he vehicle; well it wasn't really a discussion, Melissa said she took her in the library the other day so it was Papa's turn....and that was when the gold glow of the Jimmy John's caught my eye; like a desert oasis of cleanliness it was calling out, "it's ok, I'm on a strict employee franchise directed cleaning schedule." We took advantage. Maddie marched right in and took care of business like a big girl;). On our way out Melissa wanted the thumbs up or down signal; Papa gave the thumbs up. Crisis averted, potty used, parents and kid happy. The only thing that remains is the age old question you can't find in any child raising how to book; At what age do you pee at a gas station.....?!!!????
