State Park Challenge #29: Richard Bong State Recreation Area (04.20.19)

Be amused - the destination for our challenge event on this date was NOT intentional.  The day was gorgeous for getting outside, and we wanted to end Madeline's spring break with some kind of adventure!

The adventure started with a tour at the Jelly Belly factory warehouse in Pleasant Prairie. The girls were excited to ride on the train and even more excited to shop for beans after. Madeline was thrilled to get the Bean Boozled pack, and Morgen opted for safer, seasonal beans.

With a sugar rush, we stopped at the Richard Bong state recreation area. The site was originally intended to be the home of a military airport during World War II. That didn't happen, and now the area has various trails and launch pads (for model rockets and airplanes). We walked about 2 miles along the green trail; there were several pond views and a lot of muddy spots to keep us interested and alert along the trail.  Overall, another wonderful family adventure.  Happy Easter!
