Brace Yourself

Lets face it, we're not professional writers. In fact, I will do my best to keep the spelling errors to a minimum. The following are random thoughts as we reflect on life and our beautiful family. Hope family and friends enjoy!

It Was a Heat Wave...

And what the heck do I do with an antsy 16 month old? Here I was, in the house with Madeline and we were both cooped up...Papa was antsy, Madeline was upset; I glanced over and saw this scenario....a half cup of coffee started on five hours prior, a blast of debris (duplos, stuffed animals, magnet letters, crayons, coloring books, library books and Tupperware lids) strewn around the house tornado like, and Madeline...loudly banging the palms of her hands against the patio door screaming at the top of her lungs.....I asked her like an idiot..."do you want to go outside?"...duh...to which the extent of the time outside was spent walking to the end of the driveway, picking up the mail and returning to the garage. it was 97 degrees with a 108 degree heat index. Both of us were sweating when we came inside.
So what could I do? The answer was go out...where...? Somewhere air conditioned. Target? Menards? And then the revelation came....time to use Melissa's free movie passes and hit up a kids movie.....
So during the past time I had off, Madeline and I went to see "HOP" and then "RIO" the next week. I have to admit, both were pretty good. "Hop" was half animated and "RIO" was fully animated and just plain fun. Madeline was a rock star the whole time. She was mesmerized by the big screen, the animals and probably the air conditioning also. She lasted about 3/4 of the way through each of the movies with a little snooze in between. A great experience. And Papa got to see a couple movies also! A good father-daughter date!
In the evening that week it was a nice cool 93 degrees in the shade, just cool enough for us to get our for a quick 20 minute park play time. The whole family played hide and seek among the equipment:)
