State Park Challenge #4: Roche-A-Cri State Park (06.23.17)
We stopped at this lovely state park on our way to the (annual) Meyer Camping weekend at Luwisomo. The park itself is not big, but it does have a big attraction! We climbed up the 300+ stairs to the observation deck and were able to see the view from above, including several Native American mounds. We learned that the rock formations we saw in the park and the surrounding area are sandstone, and remnants of ancient Lake Wisconsin. We were also able to see the Native American petroglyph messages on one of the rock formations near the entrance to the park. We only hiked about a mile, but it was definitely a charming visit.
