Brace Yourself

Lets face it, we're not professional writers. In fact, I will do my best to keep the spelling errors to a minimum. The following are random thoughts as we reflect on life and our beautiful family. Hope family and friends enjoy!

State Park Challenge #15: Cross Plains State Park (04.21.18)

Finally! After a snowy week in Wisconsin, spring showed up!   We met the Cooper Family at Cross Plains State Park, which is part of the Ice Age scenic reserve.  The area is not yet a developed park, and is comprised of federal, state and county lands.  The "trailhead' we accessed was at the "old Wilkies Farm" and we were entirely (pleasantly) surprised that this area was so close to home.

On the federal side, we walked past the farm and across a huge field, which is mowed (surprise).  It was fantastic to watch Madeline, Morgen, Ella and Jake run across the field...and we didn't have to hear them yelling!

On the state side, there was a nice loop trail that took us right to Wilkies Gorge and through a meadow and through woods which left the kids with lots of time for climbing and secrets, and time for the grown-ups to catch with each other as well.

All the kids made the 2.5 miles and so we rounded out the afternoon at Yola's Cafe for snacks and more conversation.  We can't wait to meet up with our Cooper Family on another State Park Challenge hike!
