Brace Yourself

Lets face it, we're not professional writers. In fact, I will do my best to keep the spelling errors to a minimum. The following are random thoughts as we reflect on life and our beautiful family. Hope family and friends enjoy!

State Park Challenge #16: Northern Highland/American Legion State Forest (05.27.18)

We went "up north" for our annual Meyer Family camp trip - 2018 took us to Conover, WI (at Onkel Bill's Cabin). What a beautiful weekend. The HEAT, oh the heat. Who would have thought the girls would go swimming on Memorial Day weekend in the lake; other adventures included: Madeline caught an 18 inch fish, Morgen did not actually see Bond Falls, and Jon played Hasselhof in Stormy Lake! (Jon and Aaron were fine...but surprised by their unexpected swim.)

We spent Sunday morning visiting two trails that are featured in the Northern Highland/American Legion State Forest. This is a HUGE state forest, and we were close enough to both the stunning Star Lake Trail (2.6 miles) and the Tom Roberts Memorial Trail (0.5 miles) that we all earned our ice cream on this gorgeous Sunday.

The Star Lake Trail was truly stunning. The trail was right along the edge of a peninsula, with the lake to the left and towering pine trees to the right. Madeline documented our thoughts in the trail log as follows (if we remember correctly): "I loved the hike around the lake, my favorite was the biggest snake".
