Brace Yourself

Lets face it, we're not professional writers. In fact, I will do my best to keep the spelling errors to a minimum. The following are random thoughts as we reflect on life and our beautiful family. Hope family and friends enjoy!

State Park Challenge #25: Governor Dodge State Park (09.29 - 09.30.18)

Yes, this title includes 2 dates because....we tried to camp during this challenge event. I say "tried" because it was miserable and we abandoned our site at 3:30am.  Who said fall camping is beautiful! It was cold and wet (42 degrees and raining, raining raining).

On the upside, we did an epic hike earlier on Saturday: the Meadow Valley Trail and the Cave Trail, for a peek into Thomas's Cave. It was 6.5 miles of steep grades and a difficult trail rating. This maybe was also not my best idea ever, as the girls each spent an hour at the park and an hour at their tennis lesson earlier in the day. But now we know to really evaluate trail ratings before walking...and we proved once again that Meyer girls are TOUGH.

After the hike, we headed over to the Tom's campground where Grandma and Grandpa Meyer graciously hosted us for dinner and dessert. It was a pleasant and dry visit...and then, the rain oh the rain!

Needless to say the visions of s'mores and a gentle campfire remain in our imaginations. We may just insist on a dry Challenge for our next event!
