The final destination of our marathon state park challenge weekend was Chippewa Moraine Trails State Recreation Area. Also a gem! While we made an interesting entrance (we might have driven in along someone's driveway...) we found the nature center which was really cool. The center had a ton of information about the glacial history of our state and was the most well done exhibit I have seen on the topic! The girls also participated in a scavenger hunt hosted by the Ranger. Which was good, because it gave them a bit of a rest before we finished with one last trek...
... a hike just under 2 miles along the Dry Lake Trail. The trail had some modest 'switchbacks' down to a kettle lake and back up. After reading up about the area at the exhibit, you almost had a smug feeling as you wandered along the trail! And, finally, Jon had the opportunity to play hero, as he fished Madeline's scavenger hunt bracelet prize out of the fishless lake - parenting duties as assigned. After a fabulous weekend of exploring, we were ready to go home...and plan our next adventure!
