State Park Challenge #37: Kohler-Andrae State Park (12.28.19)

It sometimes seems as though we are destined to hike in damp, cold weather! But hike we do, nonetheless! Today we day tripped to Kohler-Andrae State Park and we managed to miss the heavy rains and adventure our hearts out. What a great way to finish up the Challenge year. We loved wandering down the Dunes Cordwalk trail, and took advantage of a few detours to the Lake Michigan shoreline. We then took a short, second trail: the Ancient Shores trail. We had no idea that the lakescape was so different during the glacial melting period. After, We rewarded ourselves with hot cocoa (and coffee) in a Kohler. Then we smiled the whole drive home, thankful to have enjoyed this “gem” park still in 2019. Happy New Year everyone!
