This was Meyer-Cooper Family Camping weekend and it was a ...BUST. Weather does seem to prevail when we plan any kind of tent camping event. We forewent the trip on Friday night in hopes that Saturday would bring at least cloudy skies instead of rain, but instead the radar loomed and so our overnight plans were thwarted.
Instead, in Meyer fashion, we made the 'best of' and managed a 5 hour camp trip! We set up the canopy, and a lawn game; we walked to the beach, and back, and enjoyed an abbreviated camp fire to cook s'mores and grilled cheese. Then we packed up and drove home.
It was for the best; we encountered tornado warnings in Columbia county and snuck in the house just before a major storm rolled through Sun Prairie. We saw that storm pass over our campsite 202 right at bedtime. Instead of being confined to our tent for a dozen hours in the rain, we slept soundly in our beds.
It was a good effort family - and one to remember!
