Hence the title...yes..to my loyal followers..(two of them as I see when I log on to do this post)..the Meyer family is back..actually we never left...how could we with all the things that have been happening.
I know I don't post pictures on this thing...but if you would like to view our album you can click on the link to the right...If we haven't invited you..e-mail me..and we can get you on the list. But speaking of pictures....our little Madeline has grown night and day since we last posted!
To begin with...probably you may have guessed, but we are full blown into solid (mush) foods now..mostly fruits and veggies...in addition to our expected take of the boobie milk. Which is where I am going to go on a rant......and the title of the rant...."Mess Mats."
Mess Matt Company

Attn: Department of Research and Development and/or anyone with common sense.
To Whom it May Concern,
I have a question as a consumer of your so called "Mess Mat." When you guys were in business meetings coming up with this so called brilliant idea, did any of you have any background in propulsion physics? The reason I inquire is to get a background behind the so called "needed radius" that this product covers. Obviously everyone there neglected to consider that making a mat 3 feet in radius does nothing more than protect the floor from drops from a child's mouth. You neglected to consider my 6 month old daughter on her first taste of mushed peas promptly bent the plastic spoon back like a catapult propelling it out of her parents hands resulting in a direct hit on the door of our refrigerator. I must mention that our refrigerator is a good 10 feet away from said position, and based on the projectile flight, she would have hit the floor approximately 13 feet from high chair position. I did calculations...85% of food that hits the floor is outside the Mess Mat radius...so I ask...would you stand by an 85% defective product....yeah...I thought so.
So in conclusion, I am saddened and humored by your product. If and when your department develops a "Mess Mat" alternative...I will be sure to purchase it...of course by then we'll be sitting at the table having steak.
Sincerely,
Concerned Consumer
OK, the rant is over!
Well, we really have been having fun these past few weeks. I made the comment to Melissa the other day when I was coming off of my night shift that Madeline is growing so fast and her mannerisms change so dramatically that she is COMPLETELY different after I come home from my last night of overnights at work. Its like I get to hang out with a cool new baby!! I mean...excuse me...Big Girl!
Here are some of the highlights of the last couple weeks:
- As I mentioned we are now eating a greater variety of foods. We like, apples, bananas, rice cereal, oatmeal, zucchini, squash, and carrots. We tried kiwi, but didn't really like it.
- We fling peas and carrots. When Madeline first tries a food she makes this gagging noise (and Mom and Dad call her dramatic.)
- Mom and Dad finally got started on their big project. We finished weekend one of installation of our brand new wood floors! Special thanks to Oma and Opa for making the visit, Oma and Melissa for taking care of Madeline, and Opa for helping Daddy put the floor down!
- We had our first cold. Mommy and Daddy think it is a result of the flu shot, but we went to the doctor and had Madeline checked out and all is well.
- On 10/14/2010 Mommy and Daddy celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary. Daddy made Mommy a special meal and really it was a low key night hanging out with the family! Daddy is so very blessed to have the greatest two ladies in his life!!! He loves them both VERY much! Special thanks to the anniversary gift Maddie gave as she slept 11.5 hours straight through the night!
We did have an interesting story. Daddy took Madeline to visit Grandma and Grandpa in Milwaukee on a random Thursday afternoon. And while driving was in a car accident. A lady did not yield at all in an intersection and slammed into of course the new car. To make a long story short..we are all very grateful that everyone was safe. When Daddy pulled over, Maddie just kind of looked at him and smiled...which always makes a bad situation a happy one:) Anyway...all is well..just kind of stunk to be in that situation.
But the REAL story....
So I (Jon) pride myself on being organized...I was going to take this trip to my parents with Madeline. I left early and had the car pre-packed with the "command center" (excersaucer), baby Bjorn, toys, blankets, diapers, butt paste, and pretty much everything from her room that I may possibly need. I was good to go...I also packed bottles and milk...cause I knew she would get hungry. So I am driving..all good to go...then I get in the accident...then I arrive at my parent's house all frazzled..and of course late...so Grandma holds Maddie while I am talking to the insurance company...and then....wait for it....Maddie gets hungry and starts to wiggle/cry/scream. No problem you say....Preparation master Jon is to the rescue...I open the bag with the bottles of boobie milk...bring out the steamer to warm it up...steam it up...and......
yeah. no nipple
My first thought was......osmosis..would it work? My second thought was....Walgreens...it will work. So Melissa and I budget and look for the great deals on bottles, diapers, food and all the baby items...we are well on track to save a bunch of money...and daddy blows it by his forgetfulness and needing to purchase a $12 one use bottle. Well, Maddie liked it!
So we want to throw a thanks and a shout out to the Mueller family for hosting us in October as we made a debut trip down to Indianapolis with Madeline. We had so much fun and it was awesome to see the kids interact! Highlights included:
- An IKEA stop
- A stop at the "Farms" north of Lafayette for a break. (Cool kids place!)
- A visit to a pumpkin patch with the Mueller family where we got debut classic "kid on pumpkin" pictures
- An awesome walk along the canal topped off by a good dinner at a French restaurant...whaaa..ha...
- Thanks again Muellers for hosting and providing the GREAT breakfasts and dinners for those days! Your boys are awesome!! We really enjoyed the visit!
And last but not least....Madeline has a new move....we call it "The flop." Not to be confused with Daddy's method of diving known as the belly flop, Maddie has been increasing her movement radius day by day. We are excited to report she is not a "crawler" yet, but a "flopper." She can navigate to any toy she wants to play with...keeping Mommy and Daddy on their toes. Evening ritual now includes mandatory "naked flop time" after our bath.....Don't ask...she likes to learn to crawl naked.......
