State Park Challenge #6: New Glarus Woods State Park (07.03.17)
This park was another date-day opportunity for Jon and Melissa, with the girls enjoying pre-fourth of July fun with their friends at Becky's Daycare. New Glarus Woods is what I would consider a smaller state park - with a focus on campsites and access to the Sugar River State Trail. We walked the longest trail, which was the Havenridge Trail (4.2 miles). From this trail, we accessed the Sugar River State Trail by walking from the park on the Sugar River Trail Spur. Our total hike for the day was just under 7 miles. It was a beautiful, beautiful day for a walk in the woods. We enjoyed a quick picnic lunch afterward, and then adventured across the street from the park to the renovated New Glarus Brewhaus for a pint in the biergarten. It was a PERFECT afternoon!
