Today we went on a hike! A 4.18 mile hike. The girls did amazing; even Morgen hiked all but 0.33 miles (she needed a little lift). For this Challenge outing we decided to tackle part of the Scuppernong Trail Unit, and we chose the "orange" loop.
The views on the trail were awesome. Towering pine trees surrounded us for a good length of time and, as it's part of the Kettle Moraine area, there were plenty of hills to wander up and down. The bright skies and sunshine were the perfect backdrop to the forest, and the temperature was also just right: not as hot as it has been, and not humid. It was a great idea to do this trail today - we saw lots of fellow hikers!
After the hike, we decided to treat ourselves to a scenic drive across the forest to the forest beach access at Whitewater Lake. It's a small beach, but the water was surprisingly warm and the girls enjoyed cooling off with a swim. Overall this adventure was amazing; we felt accomplished and happy to have spent the day enjoying another Challenge event!
