We started a State Park Challenge Marathon weekend in the area surrounding Eau Claire, WI. Unfortunately, our Tinberg family-friends were unable to join us as planned this year - so we improvised. Although we missed them dearly, we paid extra attention to the details of the weekend and sent them a debrief; they were with us in spirit!
At Lake Wissota we hiked the Lake Trail which, ironically, didn't have as many views of the lake as you would imagine! We took it from the beach to the overlook and back, for a total of just over two miles. Then we had a picnic on the beach, played in the sand, and Madeline (accidentally) caught a fish. The fish freaked out Morgen, a scuffle in the sand landed Morgen's sand castle across her body and over her face instead of on the beach. The result: more tears than we wanted for a State Park Challenge Event. So we decided to move on to the next park...
