We weren't originally planning to visit Newport State Park on this trip. But when life gives you lemons (and no tee times at your golf course)....you move on to Plan B. Plan B turned out to be fantastic!
This park is located in Ephraim, WI. We were inching our way to the very tip of WI! We tackled the Lynd Point/Fern Loop Trail, which winds around the coast, "jutting into Lake Michigan and back". It was worth every step. The views and waves and twilight made the experience even more adventurous. We learned that the park is a designated "Dark Sky Park" from the International Dark-Sky Association; this inspires us for future adventures.
We ended our day at the local Piggly Wiggly, to stock up on popcorn and hot chocolate for the night.
