After our stay in Bayfield we decided to detour and extend the trip by driving west. We stopped at Straight Lake State Park for lunch and a short hike around Rainbow Lake. It was BEAUTIFUL. Such a beautiful walk, in fact, that the girls told us that they would happily hike it twice ("can you believe that mom?")! The drive there was a bit unnervinng as GPS routed us along some dirt roads to the ice age trailhead rather than the park entrance, but it was most definitely worth it for the serene time we had. It's been special to have warm enough weather to go without a coat, but still see the snow/icy lake water. We had such a lovely time, we decided to make one more stop before spending the night in Rice Lake...
