Our second stop of the day was Governor Thompson State Park. The enterance was shared with the adjacent State Forest, and we headed straight for Wood Lake. This area of the park is groomed for cross country skiing, and also had some snowshoe opportunities. However, our inital plan was to take advantage of the "sledding hill" described online and at the trailhead. We are still confused as to what exactly constituted the "sledding hill". We had really hoped to surprise the girls with sledding, and even bought a battery pump to take advantage of our inflatable tubes. Alas, the girls rode the slope from the parking area onto the iced-over lake a few times. It was not as imagined! And so....we made due and moved on to the last Challenge spot for the weekend...
